The Whole Equation of Pictures

I found it interesting to read this and then reflect on how things have changed. While during this time the emphasis was put on the studio, today there seems to be much more focus on the directors themselves. In modern films, we can automatically identify a certain style of film based on the director associated with it--for example, the style of Wes Anderson. We no longer associate this with a studio like Universal or Disney, but rather with the artists themselves. This is a very interesting phenomenon to me, for I wonder where the shift occurred. When the major film studios began to lose the control exhibited in this article, the artistic vision was left to the filmmakers. This began the era of the super director as we know now, with directors exerting complete control in places where the studio would have been previously.
