Fetishism/Voyeurism

The article on Fetishism and Voyeurism reminded me of my class on German Expressionism and Film Noir. The femme fatale is a fetishized character throughout both genres that is seen time and time again. In these films the female character is seen as the "other." She is the embodiment of sexuality that feeds on her male counterpart. In Noir films male protagonists often fall victim to these women as she plays them for a fool; mostly having them be at the wrong place at the wrong time. It's interesting to look at films through this type of psychoanalytic lens in order to peel back the layers of certain films. Especially in German Expressionism and Film Noir, fetishism is a huge analytical jumping off point for many scholars.
