Fetishism/Voyeurism

I was somewhat surprised by Hayward’s article, “Fetishism/Voyeurism."  I found myself thinking of possible movies that could exemplify his ideas.  The film that I eventually thought of was The Cabin in the Woods.  I though of this film because the film is exteremly meta, in the sense that it is commenting on what a film viewer expects and desires from a horror film.  I thought it was very interesting when Hayward discussed his second point which was focused on the idea of fetishism.  I thought it was funny because again I felt that The Cabin in the Woods was a great example to exemplify what fetishism really means in film.  In the film, female characters are subjects of sexual pleasure for the viewer, and the sexual acts offers little to the narrative story.  The film plays with this idea and creates an environment where female exposure can be maximized.  I felt that this film perfectly touched upon both points that Hayward makes in the article.
